  1. Herbert,

If you are going to hire an SEO company then, yes, talkikng to anyone who has experienced SEO success with their company is a great place to start! And as you mentioned, the trends in SEO do tend to change from time to time. The importance of Social Media is also now affecting blog SEO and will continue to do so. FB and Twitter will factor into SEO. High Quality Backlinks are also always a good choice!

  2. SEO is so tough to guage because nobody seems to have a clear picture of what works and what doesn’t. Unfortunately, it is kind of a guessing game…

  3. i agree… kung may mga kaibigan ka na magaling at may alam sa SEO, give chance to talk to , esp kung talagang ang habol mo ay ang magandang rank ng site mo..

  4. Hi Herbert,

It does seem like such a minefield, that I avoid it. How much is a reasonable price to pay for good SEO?

  5. If ever I fail miserably enough at SEO to justify calling it a failure instead of a setback, that’ll bee the day I hang up the cleats and call it a career.

  6. I am fortunate to have a friend who helps me with the running the website particularly the SEO part.

  7. I guess SEO hates me and my blog, I still needs room for learning thanks for this

  8. I’m soo playing this by ear but I’m learning little by little and so glad this is what you shared today.

  9. The real question is do you blog for people or blog for SEO? I still have a lot to learn from this topic.

  10. I’m glad to have a friend who is sharing with me some tips for my site. 🙂

  11. got curious about this. maybe i should learn more about SEO but i think i dont need to have a good ranking since i just blog for fun 😉

  12. I would advise to never deal with an SEO company who aren’t open to showing you results that they’re currently getting for their other clients. Ideally, they should also be happy to give you contact details for some of their existing clients too so that you can verify things for yourself.

  13. I like what you said: “affordability and quality do not always go directly proportional with one another” and it’s definitely TRUE. If you have the right tools for your site and appropriate content… you don’t have to buy every offer in online market… you don’t have to seek SEO experts to boost your site traffic and get nothing but a JUNK.

  14. To be honest, SEO is very very frustrating. Sometimes you just wonder why you bother. But personally, I think SEO can be rewarding if its done properly. But how to deal with SEO failure is hard to know. Your article is thought provoking.

  15. I’m considering getting that service….I really wanna boost SEO on my blogs…

  16. I personally would advise people to try to learn as much as they can first before hiring a company. There are a lot of SEO practices that can heavily damage your site and if you don’t know or understand how your SEO company is building your links, you might be in for a really nasty surprise.

So It’s probably best to make sure your SEO company/person is as transparent as possible. And I’ve never hired an SEO guy since I like to do things myself because I like to learn new stuff. But decent SEO work will probably cost a fair bit of money.

Don’t even touch those 3000 backlinks for $5 ads. They’re either all useless links or really shady ones.

    Just my thoughts.
